printmaking and sometimes other things

My studio practice focuses on printmaking, with some meandering into drawing and painting. Over the last few years, I have focused on experimenting with different ways of printing and how relief could exist as singular objects to merge painting, drawing and carved relief. My images create dialogues between people and the natural world, using flora, fauna, and man-made objects as sources of symbolism and visual metaphor to drive dramatic storylines. These storylines toe the line between personal lore and universally relatable themes and emotions, such as isolation, fear, overwhelm, overwork and burn out. I consider the images I am currently making to be a mixture of still life, depiction of everyday life, and a form of self-portraiture due to the personal reasons I choose the objects and animals that I depict. I have a wicked sense of humor and enjoy playful tongue in cheek metaphors. Finally, I have a love of making larger-than-life prints that do not fit well into people’s homes.
